KGCFS Selected for Ted and Loretta Rogers Foster Care Comfort Kit Program

We are pleased to inform all community stakeholders that KGCFS has been selected as a successful recipient of the Ted and Loretta Rogers Foster Care Comfort Kit Program, delivered through The Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada (CAFC).
Through this program, KGCFS has received 270 Comfort Kits, consisting of versatile back packs with meaningful items included for age ranges 0-2, 3-5, 6-12 and 13-18 years old that reflect and support the children and youth coming into care. We are excited to share that the kits have now arrived at KGCFS. The KGCFS team will be working in the coming weeks to implement and provide a foster care comfort kit when a child or youth enters a foster home, customary care, or alternative care home.
We extend our sincere thanks to the founders of the Ted and Loretta Rogers Foster Care Comfort Kit Program for their generosity and vision in supporting children entering care across Turtle Island. We also want to acknowledge the Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada for making this initiative possible and their continued commitment to improving the experiences of children and youth in care. This opportunity will help ensure that children and youth entering care with KGCFS receive not only essential items, but also a message that they are supported, valued, and not alone in this process.
While these comfort kits will help provide a sense of care and belonging during a difficult transition, the most important support a child can receive is a safe, stable, and caring home within their community. KGCFS continues to have a strong need for local foster families who are willing to open their homes and hearts to children and youth in need.
If you or someone you know has ever considered becoming a foster parent, we encourage you to make a meaningful difference in a child’s life by fostering locally. Your help can ensure that children remain connected to their community, culture, and support systems. Visit our website kgcfs.org/foster or call 1-800-268-1899 for more information. Together, we can ensure that every child entering care is met with not only comfort, but with compassion, stability, and a place to belong.
